Crystal Cruises: A Luxurious Journey Awaits

Discover the Allure of Crystal Cruises

If you are thinking of booking a cruise in the premium, ultra-luxury end of the market, you should consider Crystal. In my opinion, this is small ship cruising at its absolute best.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Sue. I provide concierge admin services here at Case Travel. Having just returned from my annual holiday—a Crystal cruise in the Mediterranean onboard Crystal Symphony—I’m excited to share what made this voyage so special.

An Intimate Experience on Crystal Symphony

With just two ships in their fleet, the guest capacity onboard Crystal Symphony is 606. This means you never feel crowded. You don’t have to worry about reserving a sunbed, which are clad with thick cushions, super soft covers, and crystal towels in a Tiffany blue and white stripe. There is plenty of space onboard, offering a wide array of choices in dining and lounges.

Crystal is renowned for its loyal and long-standing staff. This is evident in the way they work together tirelessly. They are genuinely friendly and make you feel very special. They remember your preferences, and you always receive a smile and a friendly hello. From the moment you board, everyone has time for you.

Upon arrival, you are welcomed with a glass of champagne. Crystal includes practically everything, so there is nothing to sign for and no waiting around for a bill. It’s a lovely feeling that makes you feel more like a guest than a customer.

Culinary Delights Await

The food onboard was simply superb. I can honestly say that I had some of the best meals I have ever tasted. Crystal offers various dining options, which truly added to our enjoyment. We loved the Beefbar, where I had the best mashed potatoes ever, alongside steaks cooked to perfection.

Top of our list was Umi Uma, Nobu dining—a true culinary experience. We savoured sushi, sashimi, and black cod marinated, one of their signature dishes served with a tiny Japanese peach to finish. There is also an eight-course tasting menu at the Michelin-rated Italian restaurant, Osteria D’Ovido, where flavours delight the palate.

We also enjoyed the Marketplace buffet-style restaurant, where we could sit outside at the back of the ship and enjoy breakfast al fresco in the mornings. Each evening, sommeliers pair wines with your dinner, allowing you to try new wines from around the world.

Luxurious Accommodations

We booked an amazing sapphire suite with an ocean view, although all the staterooms were lovely. Initially, I was a bit worried about not having a balcony, but to be honest, we didn’t miss it at all. Our great location on deck 7 allowed us to walk around the deck and enjoy the outdoors in seconds.

The suite itself was immaculate and spacious. The marble-clad bathroom featured two sinks and a massive rainfall shower with jets. There is nothing they haven’t considered: fluffy towels, two types of bathrobes, two TVs (one in the bedroom and one in the lounge), and multiple films to choose from. Plus, there’s a cinema onboard!

We had a dining table, sofas, and a box of chocolates that was refilled daily. Canapés were delivered to our suite in the afternoon by our lovely butler, Alfonso. I literally couldn’t find a single fault with the suite.

Seamless Operations and Unique Ports

Because there are only 606 guests onboard, getting on and off the cruise is completely stress-free. There is no queuing for tenders or buses; everything operates smoothly, allowing you to disembark with ease. This is an important detail on a cruise. Crystal even provides towels in case you are off to the beach for the day.

Every time the ship sails from its port of call, they play Louis Armstrong’s "What a Wonderful World" over the speakers. It’s a Crystal tradition and such a lovely touch.

It was wonderful being able to visit some of the smaller ports. My favourite was Monte Carlo, a port with panoramic views that are breathtaking from a cruise ship.

A Pampered Departure

Disembarkation at the end of our cruise was seamless. There was no waiting around, and it didn’t feel like the end of the holiday. You are truly pampered from the moment you step on the boat to the moment you depart.

Would I go on another Crystal cruise? Yes, in a heartbeat! Crystal is a unique and boutique-style cruise line. They pay attention to minute details and anticipate your needs. It was just the most fantastic holiday from start to finish.

If you are considering a cruise and would like more information, please feel free to get in touch. I would be more than happy to share information and advice based on my experience.
