What Wimbledons Greatest Champion Can Teach Us About Wellness

As Wimbledon gets underway next week, all eyes will be on the players who dedicate their entire lives to the pursuit of peak performance. But what if the most interesting story isn't what happens on the court, it's what happens off it? For Novak Djokovic, holder of 24 Grand Slam titles and widely regarded as the greatest tennis player of all time, the secret to longevity has never been purely athletic. It's been a whole-life commitment to wellness.

Aman and Novak

A Wimbledon Partnership Built on Shared Values

In 2024, Djokovic became Global Ambassador and Wellness Advisor for Aman - the ultra-luxury resort brand known for its deeply considered, spiritually-led approach to wellbeing. It's a pairing that makes perfect sense. Aman has spent three decades quietly pioneering the idea that true rest and recovery require beauty, intention, and space. Djokovic has spent his career proving that what you do away from competition matters just as much as what you do during it.

"It has been a true pleasure to develop programmes and retreats that not only enhance participants' immediate sense of wellbeing but also reflect our shared commitment to longevity," says Djokovic.

Longevity, not just winning, is the word at the heart of this partnership.

Longevity Pathways: Wellness Designed by a Champion

The partnership has produced Longevity Pathways - a series of immersive, three-day wellness programmes curated by Djokovic himself and available at a collection of Aman properties around the world. There are currently two pathways to choose from.

The Detoxification Programme is designed as a reset for body, mind and spirit - a pathway to clean living and mindful balance, currently offered at Amanbagh in Rajasthan, Amangiri in Utah, and Aman New York. The Mobility & Recovery Programme, launched in 2026, focuses on movement and restoration, combining elite training with restorative rituals designed to support sustained vitality. This one is available at Amanzoe in Greece, Amanyara in Turks and Caicos, Aman Nai Lert Bangkok, Amanoi in Vietnam, and Amanpuri in Thailand.

What the Programmes Actually Involve

These aren't spa breaks in disguise. The Mobility & Recovery programme includes movement sessions, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, reflexology, breathwork, and on-court tennis training with a professional coach. Thermal practices, including Aman's signature banya ritual, are used to stimulate circulation and support the immune system. The final day turns inward, with pranayama or sound healing sessions to restore energetic balance and encourage deep rest. It's a considered blend of Eastern tradition and modern sports science, brought together under one of sport's greatest minds.

What We Can Take From It

You don't need to be a Grand Slam champion to take inspiration from this approach to wellbeing. Djokovic's philosophy - that movement, recovery, nutrition, and mindfulness are all interconnected, is something we can all apply to our everyday lives. And while a three-day retreat at an Aman property is certainly the most immersive way to experience it, the underlying principles are accessible to anyone.

Prioritise recovery as much as activity. Create space for stillness. Choose environments that support your wellbeing rather than deplete it. This Wimbledon week, as we watch Djokovic compete at the highest level, it's worth remembering that the performance we see on Centre Court is built on a foundation of intentional, disciplined rest.
